A butterfly in the lavender

I've been really excited recently about my decision to re-launch my coaching business, Planting Seeds. It's exactly the right time for me to do it, and I've been remembering how much I enjoyed journeying with my clients.

I loved providing them with the exactly the right space so we could hear the little voice inside them that knew what they needed to do to go forwards. And go forwards they certainly did.

It's been a busy week. I wrote and designed my new website at Planting Seeds, I've started some marketing, I've woken up early and gone to bed late, I've made all kinds of lists.

Today I sat down on the bench outside and realised that I felt a little frazzled. I was forking my lunch into my mouth without tasting it. I became aware of a tangled knot of tension in my stomach.

I let my eyes drift. They landed on a hummock of lavender, just several metres from where I sat. A small modest brown butterfly was nibbling at the lavender pollen. It gave me the space I needed to hear the quiet voice inside me.

'Easy there,' it said. 'This coaching stuff is all very exciting. But don't forget to notice small modest brown butterflies nibbling at lavender pollen.'

I did. I sat and I did. The butterfly fluttered from blossom to lavender blossom. I imagined the lavender tasting heavenly. I sipped at the silence, and the beauty. The knot in my stomach dissolved, knot by knot.

Things to be curious about:
Which kind of spaces help you to hear your little voice? Take a moment right now to be quiet. What is it telling you? What do you need to do this week/this minute to honour it?

Quotes:

That inner voice has both gentleness and clarity. So to get to authenticity, you really keep going down to the bone, to the honesty, and the inevitability of something.

Trust your instinct to the end, though you can render no reason.
